Child Vaccination Plans

The plans begin at two months old — that is when the first oral rotavirus dose and the first Hib or 6-in-1 injection fall due. The BCG and the first hepatitis B dose are given in hospital at birth, before any plan begins.

Yes. We will review which vaccines your child has already received and adjust the plan accordingly.

Yes. Hong Kong's Childhood Immunisation Programme is given free to eligible children at Department of Health Maternal & Child Health Centres, and comes to 12 injections in all. A Dedicare plan does not replace it — it adds the vaccines it does not cover.

It depends which one. 1 Plan and 1AM Plan take every free vaccine at MCHC — 12 injections. 2 Plan and 2AM Plan replace MCHC's 4-in-1 and its remaining hepatitis B doses with the 6-in-1, so six injections remain there, the ones marked ** in the table. Peace and D-Total need no MCHC visit at all.

Because the 2 plan uses the 6-in-1 vaccine in place of MCHC's 4-in-1 and its remaining hepatitis B doses. MCHC injections drop from 12 to 6, and the whole course from 16 injections to 10.

An AM plan is the same plan with two additions: the hepatitis A vaccine, given as two doses, and the meningococcal ACWY vaccine MenQuadfi. That is what the table means by protecting the liver and the brain.

MCHC gives the 15-valent free. The 20-valent covers more pneumococcal serotypes, and is included in the Peace and D-Total plans.

All six plans can add the RSV preventive antibody Beyfortus at two months, at a preferential price. 1AM, 2AM, Peace and D-Total can add the meningococcal ACWY vaccine Nimenrix at six months for HK$1,130.

No. Beyfortus is an optional extra on all six plans, offered at a preferential price at the two-month visit.

The plan price covers everything included in that plan, with no additional charge. A doctor’s consultation, should you require one, is charged separately at HK$400 per consultation.

Doses fall at 2, 4, 6 and 15–18 months on the 1 Plan and the 2 Plan, so four visits; the 1AM, 2AM and Peace Plans add one at 12 months, making five; the D-Total Plan adds a further visit at 21–24 months, making six. More than one vaccine can be given at the same visit, which is why the injection counts in the table are higher than the number of visits.

Yes. We administer up to four vaccines at a single visit.

Usually not. Premature babies generally follow the same schedule according to chronological age — the age since birth, rather than the corrected age — and vaccination is not usually delayed on account of prematurity, provided the baby is medically stable.

The vaccines that may generally be given during pregnancy are the influenza vaccine, the Tdap vaccine and the RSV vaccine. Live vaccines — such as MMR, chickenpox and the intranasal influenza vaccine (Flumist) — are generally avoided. Please speak to our clinical team about what is suitable for you.

Your child’s identification document — a birth certificate, Hong Kong identity card or passport — together with their vaccination record.

Both clinics — Central and Tseung Kwan O — give childhood vaccinations. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 09:30–13:00 and 14:00–18:00.
